"Till human voices wake us, and we drown..."

Waves, Winter 2020/2021

The pictures on this page were all shot during storms in the English Channel in the lockdown winter of 2020/2021. Like the storms they were part of, they won't stand still. They'll move and change and be replaced by other new waves as I find them. This is an ongoing project. Contact me if you'd like to know more or you're interested in owning your own, personal wave.

I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me.

I have seen them riding seaward on the waves
Combing the white hair of the waves blown back
When the wind blows the water white and black.

We have lingered in the chambers of the sea
By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown
Till human voices wake us, and we drown.
